.tel domain names
Well its almost been three weeks since the .tel domain names land rush began on 3rd February 2009 offering a first come first serve registration process at premium prices. But what are .tel domains? Well I’ve been kind enough to dig out the guidebook for you, aren’t I kind?
.tel was awarded TLD (Top Level Domain) status by ICANN on 30th May 2006. Telnic is the Registry Operator and Sponsoring Organisation for these domains, they are based in London, UK. The so called “sunrise” for .tel domains names was 8th December 2008 when registrations were opened up to trademark owners. Full or general availability commences on 24th March 2009, but you can have your chance to register at will for a premium price of about $350 for 3yrs.
The dot tel domains, do not work in conjunction with usual hosting packages. Infact they are their own host. I have dug out a great pdf doc for you all to peruse at your leisure, but it is a great guide to this new TLD.
