Does social media automation actually work?
Guest social media post contributed by James Agate, founder of Skyrocket SEO. Find me on Twitter (@jamesagate)
Let me introduce you to a little experiment of mine. Dubbed Newsrush, it’s a twitter based news aggregator. I created it back in 2010 by doing nothing more than registering on Twitter, aggregating multiple news feeds using xfruits and then setting up Twitterfeed to publish up to 5 posts every 30 minutes. Total time investment around 15 minutes.
I decided against the usual route of adding hundreds or even thousands of followers because it has almost been proven beyond doubt that mass friending generates a following.
The point of the experiment was to see if people actually value an automated curator and to determine how easy it is to gather followers without following them first. › Continue reading
Think small and increase mobile web presence
I’ve just been reading a nice little article on WebUser.co.uk entitled Mobile web usage boosted by twitter and it reminded me of some things I was talking about not so long ago. Things that should be focused on with any mobile web development project. How many website owners think about how much their site costs mobile web users to visit in regions where there are data charges? How many website owners see the mobile web as an integral part of the online marketing campaigns especially in relation to social networking… › Continue reading
How fast can a domain name be sold on twitter? UAEjobs.net for sale
My friend is selling a great domain UAEjobs.net so I am going to do a little experiment on twitter to see how fast it can be sold. The domain is perfect for recruitment in dubai or abu dhabi, short and snappy it would be fantasic to develop into a job posting board for someone involved in the recruitment industry.
Why not follow me on twitter @garyptaylor or use the contact Gary form on my blog to make an offer on this domain.

Selling domains on social networks 23rd March 2009
Week three of my selling domains on social networks series of posts. For those of you who are SDOSN virgins, this series of weekly posts sees me using Twitter and Mix to market a selection of now 74 domain names, all listed on Sedo with no reserve (so yes you can bid on them) Each week I report back the statistics showing whch domains names were viewed most frequently and which social network, Twitter or Mixx contributed the most referrals/visitors. And hopefully sales! Although in three weeks we have only seen two sales and one of those was actually before I started the posts…hmm. Anyway let us proceed and see how things have faired over the last 3 weeks. Oh and excuse the totally crap graphic design this week. I seriously need to sort out my skills on photoshop…Paint just doesn’t cut it! › Continue reading
