Mobile seo and .mobi domains

Well happy new year everyone! I wish you all a great start to 2010. Whilst I’m sunning myself in beachside villa in Cape Town,  South Africa, I thought I would write a post or two about our progress with our mobile seo and .mobi domains project. The latest decision has been to scrap our main website, hosted on our .mobi domain and only have the mobile site hosted on it. We will change the web version to a .co.uk and continue focusing on the UK web search audience. › Continue reading

Link building for my mobile web development blog

I have been continuing with link building for my mobile web development blog, by submitting my RSS feed to various RSS feed submission sites and directories. thumbsup.mobi mobile web directory conference call

I have just spent the last couple of hours on a conference call with top mobile web developer Tom Thurston discussing ideas for our mobile website directory thumbsup.mobi. A few of the things we discussed included SEO friendly URLs, geo search and weighting of links from other sites in mobile search. We want to take on a two-way approach of ranking the directory in pc-based search for one type of visitor and in mobile search, from mobile devices, for another type of visitor. One question we asked was who do we want to find our directory on pc-based search and what key phrases do we want users to find us for via their mobile devices? Another question was how we would make our directory more relevant than the hundreds/thousands of other mobile web directories out there at the moment. What are our USPs (unique selling points?) The quest continues and I will be keeping you up to date with our developments in my new category Mobile Website Directory.
