Online Marketing and SEO in 2012
I have been posting on 3ac.co.uk now for three years and I am disappointed with myself that I have been silent for the last couple of months and to be honest I am annoyed about it. I don’t like having genuine gaps in my archive of posts, but let’s not dwell on the past as it is time to look forward into 2012.
I am going to touch on online marketing and SEO in this post and what I feel will be big in 2012…
In no particular order here is a list of things off the top of my head to keep your eye on in 2012:
- HTML 5 and SEO
- Social, social, social and more social
- Content will still be king
- Professionali.ru (The Russian version of LinkedIn) reaching 3,000,000 members. Someone I know invested $2.5m into them – Press Release – I want them to do well from it.
- Want to earn money as a domainer/affiliate, build information sites.
- Outsourcing will become even more prominent, especially with SEO and web development. One of the biggest agencies in London openly uses the fact they outsource their SEO to Belarus as a plus point to their clients.
- Crow sourcing and user generated content
- Tracking and Analytics as companies become even more focused on ROI in the turbulent economy
- Retail and E-commerce SEO will be big as comapanies focus more on online revenues
- “Above the line” media integration with search
- If you aren’t catering for mobile users, you are missing out
- I eventually upgrade my blog and get it properly re-designed.
- 1&1 apologise for treating so many customers like shit – ok a little ambitious but you never know!
There is a lot more in my head. I’m hedging my bets on the South African domain name and online marketing industries exploding over the next few years as their infrastructure improves more and more. It is certainly a country I would like to get more involved with in the online space.
What are you going to be doing in 2012? I’d like to do some more conference speaking and would like to do some stuff abroad too. I spoke at Think Visibility and SAScon where we were labelled “the greatest SEO and Analytics minds in Manchester and the UK” – nice accolade
and I always enjoy it.
