Valid point Darrin, a much bigger issue…

Have you ever seen it when you search for a selection of domain names and then find that a few days later someone has registered the ones you were looking at. Sometimes I think the big registrars are keeping tabs on what domains people are searching for and buy them up in anticipation that other people may want similar ones.

Conspiracy theories r us!

You forgot that many of the big registrars are involved in it, they are holding millions of domains; and “domain tasting” has yet to be abolished, even though it was supposed to be implemented last year.

I agree with the “fueled by such low costs to buy domains” comment but trying to sell donkeys at Red Rum prices is just plain stupid.

If this joker put 3ac.com up for auction with no reserve they’d get no where near $7,000 and they know it.

Christ thats quite a rant, but I couldnt agree more. I would love to see the figure of domain names taken with meaningful content on them.

Domain squatting is really low rent, but is fueled by such low costs to by domains, with registrars giving away domains for free is it any wonder people buy them up.

As the for the prices people are commanding what can you do, it costs them $5 a year to sit on it so they will hold out for big money – supply and demand, you want it they have absolutely no need to sell. If this was poker they have just pulled a pair of Aces.
