Monetising your domains in different ways
I see everyday that domainers are wasting some really good domains by simply parking them and taking their revenue from adsense. Its crazy, there are some really good affiliate programs out there that could unlock several times more revenue from those domains and all it requires is just a little bit of time and effort.
It seems that many domainers don’t seem to have the time nor the inclination to develop their domains that little bit further than the standard parking page with Sedo or Go Daddy or whoever else their hosting is with. I have recently been getting emails from financial services affiliate network Smart Quotes and they have had some really good loan and insurance prgrams some paying on valid submit for a lead. Other programs include Amazon shops and white label platforms which can all be utilised to provide a much more interesting source of revenue than CPC…wohoo I just made two cents from a click, great!…NO! ITS CRAP, GET A GRIP!
I have purchased flyfishingbooks.co.uk for this exact reason, to test the water with an amazon shop and also mothersdaycards.co.uk which already earns a few bucks a month from being parked but could do ten times better being part of Moonpig.com’s affiliate program, not to mention cheaploanquote.co.uk which could easily generate leads for the loan industry of which leadpoint.co.uk have a great reseller program. Why not have a look through your own domains and see which ones have potential to be developed that little bit more.
On 3ac.co.uk I have been running the 1&1.co.uk affiliate banner on the home page for the last month or so. So far it has generated 14 sales, and through Sedo I have sold two domains. Not bad considering I only started the blog in February and at the moment market it only via Twitter, Mixx and Facebook…to domainers as well! Why should they buy through my affiliate program? So you see, a bit of development can work.
We have turned thehamble.co.uk into a quick 4 page site, nothing fancy, but on first index is already first page for “accommodation in hamble” this should help us generate enquiries to rent a flat out down there, but of course a little bit of adsense in the corner won’t go a miss and its much better than just having it parked and only ranking for “the hamble”
What’s so great about parking a domain?…I don’t know. I guess its just the lazy way of doing it. No one succeeds by being lazy and you’ll be surprised what a little bit of effort can do.
I would love to hear off anyone who is doing something different with their domains. What successes have you had outside of traditional parking? Drop me a line and let me know.
