Monetising a blog
It has been one year since I started my blog on 3ac.co.uk and I believe its time to start earning some money. I have selfishly made some changes to the site to move it in line with my monetising strategy – domain name registration. Those of you have stayed with me over the last twelve months will notice that I frequently change the structure of 3ac to test our URL structures, meta data, content and more to see the effects whilst still maintaining the theme of domain names and mobile web development.
I have therefore changed my seo strategy to focus on the keyword “domain name registration” for the next few months, whereby I can monitor its progress. I have moved my 1&1 banner to the top and cropped the opening paragraph. I have amended my RSS feed title and hard link so include the term “domain name registration” and will start building new links into the home page of the site with the key phrase in mind.
One thing you may notice is that I am not adding a category for “domain name registration” and will only be using tags under the related posts I create on the subject. For the content, I propose to write reviews on domain registrars, the special offers there are doing and how-to’s for beginners. Again, useful and relevant content along the theme.
I’ve just noticed as I am writing this that the category description for my “Domain Names” category is being used as the Page Title…not what I want, better go change it!
