Marketing your mobile site on You Tube
Disclaimer: THIS POST CONTAINS ADULT MATERIAL WHICH SOME READERS MAY FIND OFFENSIVE…but it also contains some great information on marketing your mobile site too!
I have been marketing a mobile website on YouTube.com; an adult mobile site (well a mobile babes site, there is no nudity on it until you actually download a video) and we have been receiving great results. So I’m going to share a few hints and tips with you on marketing your mobile site on YouTube…
Lets take one of the videos we have created for the mobile site as an example, this one is of UK model Hannah Claydon in an England Bikini:
Two key aims for us here were to get the video to rank in the first set of results on You Tube and also on Google Videos, to capture the best audience possible for people searching for videos of Hannah Claydon. The next stage was to ensure that the viewers knew who had created the video and where they could view it in full. And finally we needed that all important link back to the mobile site itself.
A great thing about YouTube is that when you post a video on there you can really push the SEO on it to help it rank better and there are few elements which will boost your rankings early on to maximise viewings. And like PC based search if you keep up with the SEO for that video, such as building links into etc, it will continue to rank highly in both YouTube and Google Videos.
Firstly, a good relevant title, we used “Hot girls video supporting England qualifiers 2010 | Hannah Claydon” because it contain the keywords we are targeting [hot girls video] and [hannah claydon] and we used [england qualifiers 2010] as the England qualifiers were on at the time and this was a big relevant search factor that linked in nicely to Hannah wearing an England bikini. Note: always look for an opportunity to make your content relevant to the time you publish it. And I think if you search “England qualifiers 2010″ on You Tube it still ranks for that too.
Secondly, a strong description containing the URL of your site. We have found that you can add weighting to your video listing with a strong description; mention the keyword you want to target 2-3 times per 150 words and rememebr the URL of the site, this should be in the first sentence or two to ensure that it features on the video preview page and in the SERPs description too, note the URL in question is m.hotgirls.mobi (the mobile site in question.)
Below is how the description looks on YouTube, note the use of tags too:
Last but not least is making the video as high qaulity as possible and not too long either, it needs to get peoples attention and give them a call to action to make them want to click through to your site. No matter how well your video ranks if people don’t want to click through to your mobile site its pointless.
I think we have done a pretty good job editing this video into a short clip with fade in fade out logo and call to action about donwloading the full version at the mobile site. All in high quality format, not fuzzy or jumping at all. Beautiful.
Here’s a screen shot of how the video clip ends on you tube:
It took about an hour to create the clip and upload it to YouTube, and it was time well spent with over a thousand views in a month. Building up a catalogue of small marketing videos like this will soon see you achieve a healthy amount of targeted traffic coming through to your mobile site for free. This method can be applied to literally any industry.
Please feel free to share this post around if you found it useful, and if you have any questions or would like to know more about marketing your mobile website on YouTube, feel free to get in touch with us!
