I know, it’s been a while…big update!

Well I do probably deserve a slap on the wrists for letting over 6 weeks go by without a post, but so much has been going on I simply haven’t had a chance, I commited myself to writing each week on 3ac.co.uk about how my domain development ventures were going and what I had learned in the areas of SEO and online marketing to share with everyone…I apologise. So whats new? Well lots.

I have been working hard recently with Dave Carruthers at oneresult.co.uk and Tom Thurston at scorchsystems.com on our new mobile project which we are utilising .mobi domains for. Yes you heard it .mobi domains. I know there are many domainers out there who simply don’t like them but honestly if you want to take advantage of the mobile web, there’s no better way than with a dot mobi. Just check out the work Tom has done with animationfc.mobi and their rankings on the mobile web at http://themobiledeveloper.com/

We have also been working on a more risque venture which I’m not going into too much detail because it contains adult nature, however it includes videos, mobile, Bango mobile billing, the adult industry and strip clubs. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination.

On the domains front I have found an excuse to utilise acousticbands.co.uk for the moment. One of my domains; I have now stuck it on a 301 re-direct to the blog for my band…Yes I have become involved in a band, well a duo actually we do chilled out acoustic covers of classic tracks like Jimi Hendrix, All Along The Watch Tower. We’ve actually got a gig on the 2nd of July at The Plough pub in Harborne, Birmingham. Check it out at http://www.theploughharborne.co.uk.

It seems the more I focus on domains, the less I actually get involved in them. I haven’t bought any at auction in a while now and am just sitting on my stock pile for the moment. A minisite we did to get enquiries for our flat in The Hamble is now on the first page of Google for “The Hamble” and “Accommodation in Hamble” demonstrating the weight of a good geo-domain can carry your rankings well even with little/no SEO work being done on it. Ok, so I took the chance to sneak a little text link in there.

My secured loan and mortgage lead generation site Searchandapply.co.uk is still going strong and generating leads for my mortgage company. Ranking for quite a lot of decent terms like “fast secured loans.” I have now taken another mortgage adviser on board and although the market is still slow and significantly more difficult than it was 18 months ago I am confident it will pick up and have been making steps in preparation for this with the website.

I have also been talking to several musicians about potentially managing their social networking and traffic generation on a monthly retainer. One in particular is Anna Phoebe, one of the top female violinists in the world. Will be talking to her on Skype later this week, so watch with space! Oh and in the meantime check Anna out at www.annaphoebe.com

I have also been asked to speak at the Think Visibility conference in Leeds in September which I’m really excited about. I will be discussing the importance of creating a domain strategy prior to jumping into web development and will be focusing on geo-domain strategies which people ca use to increase online business visibility in the long term. Check out www.thinkvisibilty.com for more details.

Well I think that about gets you up to speed for now. I will make a promise today to do at least one post a week on 3ac from now on and not leave it so long to keep you up to date.

Until next time folks

Gary
