Good things come to those who wait
OMG, I haven’t written on 3ac about mobile domains or anything that I want to over the last couple of weeks because I have simply been chocka with work. I its not created, editing, and upload videos for my mobile site, it writing financial services articles and news items for my secured loans website. I have been link building for my mortgage website and also for our bed and breakfast website. Its like a never ending story and I’m venting my frustration with it all here. Do you ever feel like you are doing loads of work for little immediate return? I read my horoscope in the local curry house last night, whilst waiting for my Chicken Madras and it said that I shouldn’t rush plans which were intended for long term gain. Basically it was telling me to chill out and keep chipping away. It reminded me of the old Heinz tomato ketchup advert, “good things come to those who wait.”
So, I rejigged my mortgage company’s website, chaging the title and meta data and some of the content on the home page, I took away unneccessary outgoing links and not follow certain others. I did some link building, submitted it to some new directories and also Google mapped it. Theyn resubmitted the site map. Genius I pop up now second page for mortgage advice birmingham. With a little bit more work, first page will come in no time. Now this is only a basic website built in Perl, with an HTML editor. However it has sat doing nothing for two years and was only something that people could visit if they took one of my advisers business cards. So lets see if getting a decent ranking for some of the keywords I am targeting will generate me some decent mortgage leads? A good bit of geo seo, I would love to own mortgageadvicebirmingham.co.uk, I only have mortgageadvicesolihull.co.uk which is an affluent district of Birmingham but a but too specific to generate any decent traffic, so I haven’t put it to any use yet. However if you look at the rankings for “mortgage advice birmingham” the exact keyword .co.uk comes up first spot, demonstrating the weight of a good domain, even though it is clearly not an active company website is a good weapon to rank well in geo-search.
I have been on a mega content writing slurge for my secured loans website searchandapply.co.uk. over the last week I must have written about 30 articles and news items, but its still not enough, I break of 4 days and I dropped from page two of Google for “home improvement loans” to page 5. After analysing the first page competitors and monitoring my rankings closely over the last month or so, I reckon I need to be writing about 4-5 unique articles/new items every day, then building links into these and submitting them across several social media networks to gain a place on the first page. That is certainly a tall order. But I feel pretty good about doing and actually enjoy the challenge, so will see if one man can compete with the big boys and gain a position on the first page, just by content writing…watch this space.
On a bit of good news I was also contacted today by a lady who wants me to talk to their digital marketing agency about domains and mobile development. I emailed her back to say I would be interested so we will see what happens from there. Its great to see that people are actually reading 3ac and seem to be interested in what I have to say. Of course you know me, I like to write what I think and even I sound like an idiot at times, so what. There’s always something new to learn with SEO, domains and mobile you can never know it all, and hopefully I come up with a few gems at times, or even ask the questions that people thought were too dumb to ask and so never piped up themselves! Come on I’m sure there are loads of you out there who have been in that position before!
Anyway off to the supermarket now to grab some dinner. Speaking of which I have been invited to join the guys and girls at Bango on their yacht for Cowes week in August! Woop Woop! Sorry to boast.
Until next time, and remember, good things come to those that wait, so don’t try rushing SEO or content writing, don;t cut corners by using these dodgy million free links for $50 scams or copy content from other sites so you get done for duplicate content…just write whatever is on your mind in context to what your site is about and the rest should come in time.
