Gaming domains

gaming-domainsI have just been reading Sedo’s March 2009 monthly newsletter and in particular their Gaming Domains post (read it here) and I strongly feel that the online gaming industry has only just touched the surface in terms of long term growth. With a 27% rise in December 2008 alone, the industry seems to be recession-proof. Being the amazingly intuitive entrepreneur that I am (I can feel my head getting larger!) I bought up quite a few gaming domains and have done a fair amount of research into the online gaming industry, especially with regards to future growth potential of search engine optimisation and mobile technologies within the industry. Anyway, I logged into my domain name account with 1&1 to have a look at what gaming domains I had. Having just sold 360poker.net for a couple of hundred bucks  I thought what the hell, I may as well select another handful and offer them to the public as I’m not going to develop all of them. Here are are the ones I am offering…

(1)     POKER247.EU

(2)    FREEGAMESPOKER.CO.UK

(3)    POKERSCRATCHCARDS.CO.UK

The first online gaming domain is poker247.eu a cool domain name that can be branded up nicely. Online gambling in Europe is huge and the dot eu domain is a nice touch to cover the continent. Of course the 247 implies “open all hours” which is exactly what online gaming is all about…unlimited access 24 hours a day, seven days a week. With the gaming restrictions thwarting the United States, surely the European market is the one to aim for, for any online marketer.

The second gaming domain up for grabs is freegamespoker.co.uk a nice little number which as an exact term gets about 1,300 searches per month across all countries.  260 in the UK… would be good as a satellite site for SEO or for an affiliate marketer looking for something keyword rich for PPC.

Thirdly is pokerscratchcards.co.uk, not very competitive but a good super-niche for an affiliate marketer to get involved in. Scratch2cash.com offer a cool affiliate scheme for scratch cards, and there were some new companies emerging at the CAP Euro event, in London at the start of year, who feel that offering gaming scratch cards is a great way to entice people other online games.

I did mention above that these are private sale domains, I will accept offers on them via my contact form. Payment must be via Paypal. At the end of the month they will be going onto Sedo for public auction.

Other gaming domains which are currently being offered for sale on Sedo include:

WhiteLabelPoker.com, .co.uk and .net

SuperStarGaming.com, .co.uk and .net

OnlineBingoClub.net

All fantastic gaming domains with good branding potential I’m sure you will agree.

Well its late now so I think I am going to go to bed…

Cheerio, good night and god bless

Gary

  • I agree, you should test the waters, FREEGAMESPOKER.CO.UK is a good one.

Clearly, gaming and gaming domains sales are increasing. Our gaming domain sales have increased significantly in the last 12 months, with the majority of the sales coming from the UK.

“poker” is the most popular niche, followed by “slots” and multi keyword domains. We also find a increased valuation of domains based on age (5-10 years) and if they were hosted continuously.

    Hi James

Thanks for the comment, gaming domains have always been of interest to me, its a great niche for domainers with many gomain domains having strong resale values.

It is interesting you noted about the age of the domains having a positive affect on the valuation if they were hosted continously, this will be due to the signiicant advantage a “trusted” domain has over a brand new one in the SERPs (search engine results pages) for SEO purposes.

With online gaming being so competitive it is imperative for those who wish to develop their gaming domains to capitalise on things like which can help them rank organically.

I have been looking at your site this morning and there are some fantastic domains on there.

    Thanks for getting in touch
