Domains, the quest for greatness continues
I sat in the office today thinking to myself about my domains, and what I hope to acheive by hosting this blog. Everyday I come up with new ideas about how I would like to make 3ac better, but you know when get yourself into a frenzy about all those amazing things you want to do?…Well for me there just aren’t enough hours in the day.
I mean seriously, its now 12:40am in the UK, which means I have been awake a little over 18 hours, I left the house at 8:30am and apart from coming home to walk the dogs for an hour and going back out again, I officially got home at just after 11:30pm…
It’s not that I’m complaining but in my quest for greatness I have been given a stark reality check that and learned a valuable lesson. The results you achieve are relative to the effort you put in. Now, as far as I am concerned, when it comes to my domains I put 100% effort in. Especially with my goal for 3ac (to rank first page in Google UK for the term “domains“) but in putting the effort in here, am I sacrificing other projects which also require my attention and how do I fit those into my schedule? Time management training springs to mind…
So whats actually going on? Well I have just had a quick mini-site put together for a domain I registered recently. TheHamble.co.uk will become a mini geo-domain project, capturing traffic for “accommodation in hamble” and “bedandbreakfasthamble” I own several geo bed and breakfast .co.uks, but with TheHamble.co.uk it is slightly different, a family member lives in the Hamble. I like having things that are “close to home” so to speak. I say stick with what you know/what you are good at. It is great to step out of your comfort zone once in a while but why not surround yourself with things that your know to work first.
The second is a mobile website I am working on. Unfortunately I cannot reveal the details of it just yet because I am still in the development stages and simply do not wish to share my genius ideas with you all just yet, all will be revealed in due course!
Thirdly is the complete overhaul of searchandapply.co.uk the loans website I have been running for the last 12 months. I have had a new design done and this will encompass a whole new range of financial products I wish to target including credit cards, debt management and pay-day loans. I have been doing some SEO on some niche terms I believe will generate higher conversion rates for me, currently ranking first page for examples like “fast secured loan” and “self certification loan.” The one I want to rank first page for is “home improvement loan” – only on the 3rd page at the moment, but should hope to see this jump right up to where I want it within the next couple of months. I have always loved the searchandpply.co.uk domain name. It is a great term that applies to pretty much every financial product, I like the mini brand I am creating with it and the new design will bring it all together…it is much more visually appealing!
I think there are probably many domainers experiencing a similar situation as I am at the moment. The question is when do get to relax? When I started getting into domains, I thought to my self, by low, sell high, no probs making money will be easy! Not quite so, and I’m not ashamed to admit but contrary to what most domainers will tell you, I find the domain name industry a tough nut to crack!
So my quest for greatness continues, will I make it to the first page by the middle of May?…I’m finding it tougher by the minute I’ll tell you that!
Caio for now!
