Domain strategy food for thought.
I went to the CapEuro expo in London on Friday, it was awesome.
I absorbed some really cool stuff about the online gaming industry and was able to collate masses of information for my White Label Poker project.
The gaming industry is just unreal… they are a the forefront of technology and whilst I was there I dropped in on a seminar about search engine optimisation. The expert panel included a guy called Bob Rains who I thought was great. During the seminar they touched on domain strategy; highlighting how domains with industry-related keywords and creating geo-targeted sub-domains can have a strong impact on your SEO efforts.
Later that evening I arrived home, checked my emails and found that I had received a $200 bid for 360poker.net a domain I had parked with Sedo, anyway it gave me food for thought so I am running a little test.
The aim of my test is to prove the follow hypothesis correct.
My hypothesis:
“The SEO seminar at the CapEuro event was so thought-provoking for the casino affiliates who attended that many of them will try to buy up some keyword-heavy and brandable domain names to help with their online marketing.
By placing an advert on a domain auction site for a collection of gaming and non-gaming related domain names, I believe that the gaming related domains will receive the most offers between them over the nect seven days.”
The advert has been placed on the Sedo home page and an auction is already up and running for 360poker.net. I have put up a list of other domains on this auction page, so lets see which ones receive the most offers and will this prove my hypothesis.
I’ll keep you posted, but feel free to add your comments/ let me know which one you think will receive the most bids.
