domain name seo

Today I launch a new category for my blog, entitled Domain Name SEO (search engine optimisation.) I have been toying around with this idea for a while now and want to turn it into a a “how-to” section, inviting experts seo’s from the industry to talk about, give hints and tips and generally anything useful about how seo can benefit your domains. I figured that you can’t really have a blog about domain strategy and development without mentioning domain name SEO. So, having spent the weekend down in the Hamble with some friends I was able to take time out from blogging and just think about how I wanted to structure 3ac moving forward with this idea…

Domain name search engine optimisation, hmm. This can apply to parked domains and domains which have been developed, so do the techniques for gaining top search engine placements differ or can the same techniques be applied?

I have many questions on this subject and intend to find the answer out for my readers. Questions like…does Google penalise parked domains or put a favourable weighting over developed domains? What is the best way to gain quality nbound links to a parked domain when many directories and website portals will not list them? Should a parked domain name be developed into a simple 4 or 5 page site to plase the search engines rather than being left as just a parked page?…and so on.

Adding the domain name seo category will hopefully bring answers to these questions and bring my own spin to this areas of domaining which I feel is overlooked by many domainers. Value in a domain name is exponentially increased if it has good search engine placement, as this brings natural traffic; something that cannot be generated overnight without paying for it.

This week I am going to go away and and do some research and like my top 10 domain name sales post, each week I will be writing about an area of domain name seo. I’m actually quite excited about this, I can see my blog starting to take shape, I should start having themed days, I already have “Top Ten Tuesday” maybe I could have “SEO Sunday” and “Marketing Monday” ha ha, it could be like domain name radio, tune in to your favourite slot each week. What a great idea!
