Does social media automation actually work?

Guest social media post contributed by James Agate, founder of Skyrocket SEO. Find me on Twitter (@jamesagate)

Let me introduce you to a little experiment of mine. Dubbed Newsrush, it’s a twitter based news aggregator. I created it back in 2010 by doing nothing more than registering on Twitter, aggregating multiple news feeds using xfruits and then setting up Twitterfeed to publish up to 5 posts every 30 minutes. Total time investment around 15 minutes.

I decided against the usual route of adding hundreds or even thousands of followers because it has almost been proven beyond doubt that mass friending generates a following.

The point of the experiment was to see if people actually value an automated curator and to determine how easy it is to gather followers without following them first. › Continue reading

Guest Bloggers For Online Marketing

I’m starting to expand on my blog by introducing some new pages which you can see in the main navigation menu. For the last two years or so 3ac.co.uk has been dedicated to domain names and over the last 6 – 9 months it has become increasingly clear to me that I should start offering more. There is a distinct cross-over of knowledge when you get into “domaining” and having access to the latest online marketing news, trends, information and advice will help maximise any domain name project you may have. › Continue reading

Think Visibility 5

So it’s Sunday afternoon and I have just got back home from a fabulous weekend at Think Visibility 5. It was another extremely successful event and it never ceases to amaze me how well Dom and his team cope with all the organisation that must be required to put on an event like this and have it run so smoothly. An eleven strong line-up of speakers graced the two stages and a number of highlights made the weekend a true online marketing treat!

Think Visibility Not Far Away

With just over a week until the 5th Think Visibility conference my palms are starting to sweat a little as the realisation kicks in that I will be back up on the stage again talking about domain names. This outings speaker line-up looks great with some returning favourites of mine, like Dave Naylor and Paul Madden who’s talks I particularly enjoyed at Think Visibility 4 last September. › Continue reading

SERPs Kickstart Package For New Domains

I have been doing some link building research recently for various clients and also for 3ac.co.uk and as you will all know having a brand new domain means you have to work extra hard to get your rankings off the starting block. One of the girls in the office asked why a competitors site was doing better than a new site we were working on when we have built virtually the same amount of links, and to purposes ours are better quality. The content was more SEO friendly and basically she felt that we should be ranking higher…so why weren’t we?  The difference was that the competitors domain was 3 years old and our was 3 months. Of course! Brand new domains require time to get “trusted” by Google! But what can be done to build this trust sooner rather than later and in the most efficient way possible? › Continue reading
