Bored of crappy chat about domains

Uhhh, mehhh, booo, blah blah blah, snore….Every time I get an email now from various domain industry news aggregation sites, (no names mentioned of course) with “headlines” from other industry bloggers it is just filled with crappy chat about domains. If it’s not some chump giving his views on ICANN or some other domain industry body/organisation its another schmuck blurbing on about SEO or link building who’s site features nowhere for what they are trying to achieve…idiots! Sort it out!

I saw an article which spurred me to write this about many domain industry bloggers pretty much relying on traffic from Domaining.com. I simply find it strange that so many so-called, or should I say self-titled, “experts” choose to simply pay for traffic in this industry and do very little with regards to SEO to generate their own organic search traffic.

Just Google “domain names” or “domains” and does any industry “expert’s” blog rank in the top 5 pages? No. Even the so-called top industry sites like Domaining.com and DomainNameWire.com (which ranks on the 8th page of Google.com for “domain names”) are really missing a trick.

We’ve seen it happen with Bido.com closing its doors, even the owners of Sex.com couldn’t fix the leak in their bucket so what would you do if your biggest referrer of traffic turned itself off? And do you really like the fact that all your basically getting is paid-for traffic.

Personally I couldn’t give a sh*t whether there is a trademark dispute or whether you think .co domains are going to take over from .com or you just bought/registered some stupid “catchy” .com and think it will be worth millions…get a grip!

I want to see results, not because I paid a few sites a couple of hundred bucks each to have my RSS feed featured, but because I spent the time generating my own unique content, building my own NATURAL high quality inbound links and put in the hours to get results.

My advice to the industry is WAKE UP, why not try writing an article which is truly yours, not just another sites headline in your own words?… Something original. Maybe it may make the industry more interesting.
