3AC hits Brum Twestival

“Hereth starteth the twitter…eth.” Famous last words? I think not, today is the day Gary Taylor descends on the vast community that is Twitter.com.

Last night was the Brum Twestival, held at Poppy Red bar in Birmingham. “Twitter festivals” took place around the world last night allowing Twitter followers from every corner of the globe to meet up, chat and generally hang out and have a good time. Being a Twitter virgin, so to speak, I went along with the guys at One Result who help me with my projects. It was great to see loads of people there all for the same reason, just to get to know each other more and check out what everyone was doing.

The Brum Twestival was organised by handful of Birmingham companies including 383 Project and VHPR and the effort that was put in was incredible with games, raffles and freebies up for grabs the drinks were flowing and everyone had a great time. Well done guys!

So what did I learn about Twitter last night? Well for starters I need to set myself up with a proper profile for…urm…myself,  so that people can hear me tweet away about the domain name industry and also my domain development projects. Secondly when someone gives you a name badge at a Twitter event that you have to fill in yourself, I now realise that you are supposed to put your “@ …” name, not your actual name…oops! No wonder people were giving me funny looks…anyway I’ve registered my Twitter profile as @garyptaylor so here we go!
