3ac at the races, Cheltenham Gold Cup

Iron your tweeds and dust off your trilby. 3ac are off to the races. From Tuesday 10th March until Friday 13th March its The Festival, yes you got its Cheltenham Gold Cup time, and 3ac have tickets at the ready for Gold Cup day on the Friday. The Cheltenham Gold Cup is a fantastic event which we follow closely and its great this year to be able document it in my blog. So why document it? Well its all part of my domain name development strategy for next year.
You may have noticed previous posts about my domain names such at mothersdaycards.co.uk for example. One part of my domain name strategy is to acquire, what I like to call, super-niche domains. These are domains which are not only niche with respect to the industry they are a part of but also seasonal in their traffic volumes, making them super-niche! A recent purchase for me is cheltenhamgoldcup.info, a domain which I intend to turn into a portal of information  providing a fountain of knowledge; from cheltenham accommodation, local pubs and places to eat, to parking and travel services, and general visitors information for anyone attending the event  during the run up to the Festival.

Its not going to make me millions but with a search volume of approx 22,000 in the month of March “cheltenham gold cup” is a great term to target and I now have 12 full months to SEO it up to the max ready for the 2010 event. Attending this years event will see me gathering as much content as possible to start the site off, photos, videos the lot and the best thing about it is that I’m planning well in advance. A key ingredient for any domain name strategy.

Little projects like these keep me interested in domain names, picking off niches and making them into revenue generators is very exciting, plus the work involved if you leave your self plenty of time is kept to a minimum leaving you to focus efforts on your larger domain name development projects. That reminds me, I need to start updating the My Projects pages so you can see exactly what domain names are on the books for development this year and how I go about doing it.
