Philanthropy in the domaining community

Click the donkey to support the Animals at BIDO.COM

Many of you may have already seen the posts across the domain name industry about the charity auction to be held by Bido.com on the 1st April…no joke!

The auction is being held to raise money for a non-profit animal sanctuary in Arizona called Hacienda de los Milagros.  Domainers from across the globe have come together to donate animal related domains into the auction in an attempt to raise as much money as possible to support the sanctuary in its time of need.

The money will go toward buying more food and equipment.

It is excellent to see philanthopy like this thriving in the domaining industry, perhaps more charitable events should be held in future. From my own portfolio I have donated animalscharity.com.

Mobile domains

We have had dot mobi domains now since 2006, but have they turned heads…not really. Has the power of mobile even been touched upon in the world of domaining. NO WAY!

The real head turner will now be how the development of existing domain extentions will be implemented to maximise the exposure of a website across the mobile internet. Contrary to popular belief the two worlds of desktop internet and mobile internet are two completely different species which must have two separate domain strategies inplace, but at the same time, two strategies which complement each other seamlessly. › Continue reading

Selling domains on social networks 23rd March 2009

Selling domains on social networks

Selling domains on social networks

Week three of my selling domains on social networks series of posts. For those of you who are SDOSN virgins, this series of weekly posts sees me using Twitter and Mix to market a selection of now 74 domain names, all listed on Sedo with no reserve (so yes you can bid on them) Each week I report back the statistics showing whch domains names were viewed most frequently and which social network, Twitter or Mixx contributed the most referrals/visitors. And hopefully sales! Although in three weeks we have only seen two sales and one of those was actually before I started the posts…hmm. Anyway let us proceed and see how things have faired over the last 3 weeks. Oh and excuse the totally crap graphic design this week. I seriously need to sort out my skills on photoshop…Paint just doesn’t cut it! › Continue reading
